About Me

I’m a middle-aged nerd who lives in Bath. I love Bath.

I also love the web.

I’ve spent the last 10+ years of my career working on open data. Both as a freelancer and with the Open Data Institute.

Before that I spent about 10 years building data and content platforms to support the publication of academic research.

Over the last 20 years or so I’ve:

  • spoken at a range of conferences
  • written blogs, tutorials and research papers
  • advised public and private sector organisations about how to collect, manage and publish open data
  • contributed to the development of open standards
  • helped launch EnergySparks and Kudos
  • chaired a community-lead open data initiative here in Bath
  • and raised a family

It’s been fun!
