Introduction to Java 2 Programming

This course was delivered as part of Bath University's Lifelong Learning Programme. The course was initially given in Winter 2002 and was then repeated for the Spring 2003 semester.

The part time course ran for 10 weeks. Students attended a weekly lecture on a Thursday evening and were then assigned practical projects to complete in their own time between lectures. The course was targetted as students were already had some proficiency in another programming language, but wanted to learn the basics of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) on the Java 2 Platform.

Course materials for February-March 2003

Between the two semesters I revised the course slightly to reduce the amount of material covered and emphasis some different aspects of the material. This was based on feedback from students and my feelings on how well the students progressed over the first term.
